Founded by Chef Amina Ndungu, a Nairobi native with a passion for preserving and reimagining African cuisine, Dondo has quickly risen to become a beloved dining destination. Chef Amina’s journey began in her grandmother’s kitchen in a small village near Eldoret, where she learned the secrets of traditional recipes. After honing her skills in culinary schools across Europe and working in acclaimed kitchens throughout Africa, she returned to Nairobi with a vision — to create a space where locals and visitors alike could experience the warmth, spice, and soul of African food. Today, Dondo stands as a testament to that vision, blending time-honored cooking methods with modern techniques to delight every palate.
